The Three-Year Lie Beneath the Moonstones

He promised me that once he gathered three moonstones from the far north, he would mark me as his Luna beneath the full moon. I waited for him for three whole years. Every year, he told me the same thing. "I couldn't find them this year. Wait a little longer." Tonight was Seraphine's birthday banquet. I wore the dress he had given me three years ago, believing he was finally going to keep his promise. But when I saw the three moonstones... They were already resting around another woman's neck, glowing with cold, silver light. Alpha Kade bent down and fastened the clasp for her himself, gentle as if he were holding the most precious treasure in the world. He smiled and said, "As long as you're happy, I'll give you as many as you want." So it turned out the hardest thing to find in this world had never been moonstones from the far north. It was a single trace of sincerity in his heart. In that moment, I didn't shed a single tear. All I heard was the wolf that had slept inside me for three years... Finally opening her eyes.
