Rejected Mate, Silver Wolf

Beneath the full moon, I removed the Luna’s moon crown and placed it in Damon’s palm. "She’s the one you want. From tonight on, I’m giving Vivian my place as Luna of the Blackwater Pack." Damon’s hand trembled. The mate bond between us twisted violently, as though someone were trying to rip it out of my chest by the roots. "Elena." His voice was terrifyingly hoarse. "You are not allowed to reject me." Hundreds of eyes were fixed on me. I smiled. "For three years, you’ve gone to another woman every night and come back smelling like her. Did you really think I couldn’t feel it?" Every time he marked her, it felt as though my bones had been submerged in burning silver. Yet I had never said a word. Now I did. "I, Elena Ironpine, reject you, Damon Blackwater, as my mate." The instant the bond snapped, he screamed and dropped to his knees. I remained standing. Straight-backed. Wolfsbane had already spread through my blood. Someone had been feeding it to me one spoonful at a time. Damon still had no idea. The hand that had poisoned me belonged to the very woman he had brought into the Pack with his own arms.
