Collection-They Chose My Sister, Then Learned I Was the Heiress

I spent three months' wages on four air conditioners for my family, only for my adoptive mother, Marlowe Sloane, to give mine to my sister. When I objected, my adoptive father, Bennett Voss, called me ungrateful. My brother accused me of being selfish, and even my boyfriend told me to stop making a scene. Then my brother hurt my ankle and left me stranded on the side of the road. They still forced me to walk all the way back in the scorching heat to get my sister's dress, until I collapsed from heat exhaustion. When I woke up and finally made it home, I was greeted with a slap. Because I hadn't delivered the dress in time, my family locked me in an attic where the temperature climbed above 100°F. I pounded on the door and begged them to let me out while, on the other side, they casually discussed taking my sister on vacation to cheer her up. With rats, a snake, expired food, and no water, I was barely alive by the time I smashed the attic window with a baseball bat and climbed out. Then I made one phone call, and this time, I didn't hesitate. I would settle every score, one by one.
