My Alpha Used Me as a Decoy to Save His Luna

I heard Adrian order the red Luna coat into my car before dawn. "They will chase her first." Six years his secret mate, and he priced my life against a Mercer contract. So I drove the ambush route, sprayed a false dust trail, and vanished into the dry wash alone. Now there's a contract wolf on my tail: Silas Rook, a packless Alpha with a scar through his eyebrow, a thermos of black tea, and money from Adrian in his pocket. He tracked me to a dead fuel depot and kept his hands visible. He bandaged my ribs without touching. He said he'd make sure I got where I was going. Then his phone lit up with Client, and Adrian's voice came off my own logger: "Before the Luna ceremony." Silas heard it. He didn't flinch. He just asked who Adrian was. Nine days out, one wolf behind me who won't say his name, and my ex is about to lose the mechanic he never deserved.
